Archaeological Field Survey 2 Day Training Course for Young People
Thursday and Friday April 9th and 10th (Easter holidays) 2015

This is a rare opportunity for young people to gain experience in the field in the company of professional archaeologists. The techniques that will be focused on are typical of archaeological upland survey. They will include recording locational and photographic data, writing descriptive records and drawing site sketches. We will also introduce the techniques used in undertaking a full scale plan of a site.

By the end of the two days it is anticipated that young people on the course will have developed enough skills to be able to accompany archaeologists to record similar data as volunteers on designated volunteer recording days.

We will be out on site both days so volunteers will need to wear suitable outdoor clothing for the forecast weather conditions, sturdy footwear and bring their own refreshments in a small ruck sack. Further guidance and support with waterproof clothing and travel arrangements will provided. The main pick up point will be in Bangor. Please contact us to discuss your needs. All archaeological equipment will be provided. This training day has been made possible due to funding from GwirVol. Hours spent volunteering may be eligible to be counted towards the Millenium Volunteers Award.

Contact anita.daimond@heneb.co.uk 01248 366970. Please book by Thursday March 26th . Places are limited so prompt booking is recommended.
