Grey Lit Info - Drunky - 19th August 2009 Is there any way to get access to grey lit, apart from the searches aviable though the internet, do you think it worth just getting in touch with companys and asking if they have info / reports on a certain subject :face-huh: Grey Lit Info - RedEarth - 19th August 2009 Quote:quote:Originally posted by Drunky I think it would really depend on what you are trying to find out. OASIS is pretty good, and has a few methods of searching but obviously it doesn't have every report ever produced on it. If it is a particular area rather than a subject then the local HER/SMR, the Archaeological Investigations Project is also very good. If you are looking at a subject, say a particular type of pottery it would be quite difficult. Contacting units directly might work but the larger ones would probably struggle to look up information on every project they have ever done. I'm probably telling you what you already know! There really should be a better system for finding this sort of information! Grey Lit Info - BAJR Host - 19th August 2009 can't say too much... buuuuuuuuuuuuuut shall we say a beta system is already being tested.. and with funding could work with ADS to provide just what you are after. was that mysterious? More to follow in October! Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position. Mohandas Gandhi Grey Lit Info - Drunky - 19th August 2009 Very mysterious, it might be that there just not a lot of information about the sites i was looking at, but i would just like to not miss anything out. Ive started out small by sending enquires to the 4 Welsh trusts HER all but one sent me a reply, and only two with any info, one told me i would have to come to them and the last didn't even responed to the their own internet form So much for public access Grey Lit Info - Anna Stocks - 19th August 2009 Further to Red Earths comments, the Archaeological Investigations Project web page can be found at: http://csweb.bournemouth.ac.uk/aip/aipintro.htm And the search page is at: http://194.66.65.187/index2.htm?agree=0 Have fun searching! Grey Lit Info - BAJR Host - 19th August 2009 ah yes... I should slap myself for not saying that first! ps do they have pdfs of the reports? Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position. Mohandas Gandhi Grey Lit Info - kevin wooldridge - 19th August 2009 There is a ton of 'grey lit' on the Archaeological Data Service (ADS) site. (sorry don't have the link right now. But just google it...) With peace and consolation hath dismist, And calm of mind all passion spent... Grey Lit Info - kevin wooldridge - 19th August 2009 Found it.... http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/library/greylit/index.cfm With peace and consolation hath dismist, And calm of mind all passion spent... Grey Lit Info - afarensis - 19th August 2009 One particular unit in the south has now put all their site reorts on their website. It is even linked to google earth so you can see the location of the sites. Very useful. Im not sure if it will be against the rules to name them but I do hope it is a model that other units will follow. They have also sent us a disc with digital copies of all their reports for the county to include in the HER. Very nice and all without promting or funding Grey Lit Info - BAJR Host - 19th August 2009 You could look at both TVAS and Colchester http://www.tvas.co.uk/reports.asp http://cat.essex.ac.uk/all-reports.html there... named them Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.
