bajr conference-wish list - Troll - 8th September 2005 Still intend to organise our first stab at communicating with eachother- and all else, on just what is ill in 21st Century British archaeology and what is goodly. Bit of a serious thread this...could do with knowing just what you guys out there would expect from a bajr conference. Whatever flavour you are- what would you like to brainstorm/present/argue over/experience at the conference? I`m afraid that lap-dancers or oily firemen are out...this time.... bajr conference-wish list - BAJR Host - 9th September 2005 Great minds think alike. I was wondering about a) where..... Bradford? YOrk...? Does anyone have any contacts to find a location? b) how many? 100 50...? c)sessions. I would be a happy to do one on the "Future of the PAST" - have we lost sight of our purpose? September? what about . community and archaeology? detecting and archaeology? pay and conditions, employment? health and safety? Another day another WSI? bajr conference-wish list - troll - 10th September 2005 Huzzah! A response! Thankee kindly sire. Just wondering if we should`nt place an ad in the Digger/CBA newsletter/IFA mag-call for papers etc....thought you were supping proper coffee in Jordan? If you are, thought you might be pleased to learn that it`s urinating down and, I for one am diggin a clay site.......git... bajr conference-wish list - gumbo - 10th September 2005 Didnt really want to reply unless i was gonna offer a paper. However, Troll and BAJR this would potentially be really good and important. Trolls post on 'consultants and all that': something about the different strands of the profession and its current organisation would be very good. All of the IFA stuff that has been done on this is very economic 'facts and figures' led and doesnt really spell out what this actually means on the ground. You Could get an old lag to start it off e.g. 'when i was living in a tent in the 1960's' and then go forward chronologically to the situation now. There was an Interpreting Stratigraphy conference in York, 2001, that touched on stuff like this, although it was more organisation of fieldwork (e.g. democratisation and post-Hodder stuff) but I dont think its seen the light of day. Would the Invisible diggers/ diggers forum do something? Gumbo bajr conference-wish list - BAJR Host - 10th September 2005 like it..... I was thinking of a one day conference and radical... in as much as this is not sitting about in a dark room boring each other.... (well not much!!) but giving a talk.... having serious discussions and working on a strategy to implement the discussion.... Another day another WSI? bajr conference-wish list - troll - 13th September 2005 well, thats three of us.Not willing to break my arse in my spare time for three of us guys. Am I to assume that 21st Century archaeology is just fine and dandy and that no-one else has anything to say? You`re all happy to leave things as they are?[?]Please-let me know, I have a life to be getting on with..... bajr conference-wish list - troll - 14th September 2005 Sorry about the tone guys but, please, come on. We have little over a year to get this on the go and I for one think that It`s desperately needed and way, way, overdue. bajr conference-wish list - sniper - 14th September 2005 well, I'll do something on the state of burial archaeology and research in the UK (and abroad if you like, and boy could I go on and on about that), new ethical guidelines from EH/CoE/Home Office, guidelines on treatment of burials from Christian burial grounds. Not been out for longer than a few months and already experiencing problems with their interpretation. What do you think? ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ bajr conference-wish list - troll - 14th September 2005 Bloody marvelous! Extra biccies and rewards for you Sniper bajr conference-wish list - BAJR Host - 14th September 2005 looking good.... even a round 6 people would do it.... 30 hour sessions... =3 hours... questions = another hour... round up.... lunch and start ..... good day 10am - 5pm... with potential for evening good on ya troll Another day another WSI? |
