Obviously there is going to be instability in the market but there also going to be the period of anachronisms and then rebranding. The ifa did it by changing Field to For, what should bajr attempt? Could just cut the B. or what about Best, Blessed, Blinking, Blooming, Basic.....

isn't the likelihood that once independent the Scots are going to have to purge themselves of those who might not have wanted independence, so anybody holding on to any British sentimentality are going to be sitting ducks. Imagine having to live the rest of your life having voted against independence surrounded by people who are going to have to get it written in their history books that the British period was not good. Maybe hosty should change it now to the Not United kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. NUKGBIAJR. Still cant help feeling that the real Scots will not want the B in there, bit of a roman term and the romans never made it over the wall into scottland. could try England Ireland Scotland Wales combinations there of. sweiajr, wsieajr.... wiseajr

Well they really did make it into Scotland, and around Scotland, and left a lot of remains in Scotland. Just not villas.
I don't like your implication that "real Scots" will be those voting yes...
I think archaeologically, independence will mean very little, if any, difference to how heritage operates in the UK currently. HS (soon to be HES) will provide the legislation in Scotland, EH in England, Cadw in Wales. Units will be able to operate cross-border as will researchers.
Where the issues lie will be in things such as HLF funding and AHRC grants.

And the ones that didn't vote for cant be real Scots will come up. For the first century or so the differences between the two will probably be the basis for anything that will go wrong or right. Lets hope it goes right.
Archaeologically it will be interesting because academically there is probably room for improvement in Scotland, possibly nationalism will blow funding towards archaeology although the question might arise of whether there will be a critical mass to come up with any good ideas or an audience big enough to care sufficiently.

I don't see why that would be so, the scots do everything through the remembrance concept which seems unique to them and miserable as it is. It is not as if the future Scotland is a signatory to the Valetta convention and the uk (or is it) is and England does not have a licencing system. Maybe Scotland leaving will make all the signatures made by the uk void, including Valetta.. Should be that if Scotland leaves what is left of the uk has to renegotiate lots of stuff with Europe.
What might be more relevant is the repatriation of Scottish artefacts to Scotland and collections made by real Scottish but held in the rest of the united kingdom. And theres the stone of scones which was given back to the real Scots back in 1996 after being in England since the 1200s. Presumably all the real scots will start claiming that its real.

No - Scotland is voting on whether or not to cede from the UK, but the UK will continue to exist without Scotland (albeit greatly diminshed in my view) and all treaties etc to which the UK has signed up will still be valid.
