So it's not a mythical tool after all? I would certainly like to see what one actually is, and why they inspire such rapture!

....or the uses of a brickie's level with a broken hand-tape glued to one edge, who needs tent pegs, string and line levels, just the level with a suitably sized stone wedged under one end to level it up, saves a lot of c**king-about and droopy string and collapsing the whole edifice while trying to get a level on said string - and no knots!

I'm way too new to the game to be able to get away with tricks like that!
Have been the only person yet on site to use a fold-up camping stool while writing context sheets though. After discovering a) that it buggers my back otherwise and b) sample tubs can't support even this lithe frame... I did put in a request for motorised sun loungers - bet you can't guess the response!

I visited a large site once during lunch hour, it was sunny (tbh it's a very rare thing up north....sun, not lunch!) and about 20 people were sitting on sample tubs, but lunch was over before I could say anything. Before the peeps had gone back on site I rounded all the tubs up and put them back in the tool shed! Makes me right upset
!. It can break the seal on the tubs rendering them useless! Not cheap either!!!Should get Dino to tell you of his other ensemble of digging implements, eg a ladle is fantastic for getting spoil out the bottom of pits. I think he has three! :face-approve:

It would break your heart seeing what the tubs get used for on our site then Seedy! You are leaving yourself open a bit there though - 'give us your money, or the tub gets it!'
I'm now worried that I'll be looking out for useful looking cutlery and kitchen utensils in the second-hand shops more than the much needed trousers... But I can certainly see how such things could be most useful. Improvisation is king! For tools that is, not trousers...

Oh they can keep the tub! If the seal is broken then it opens up the possibilities of contamination! It's all about the integrity of the sample:face-approve:

Along similar lines, I was once introduced to a long-handled ice cream sundae spoon, with the bowl bent at a 90 degree angle to the handle. Perfect for deeper stakeholes that your hand won't fit into.
