Fenland District Council to relax archaeological planning regulations - BAJR - 1st July 2011 Ouch... that is one hell of a U turn, and not one that really sounds like him, I can almost hear the cracking of bones from Central Command.. SIGN IT!! SIGN IT NOW!! The first speech was clear. there was no debate, it was a fact that archaeology was no longer going to feature in FEnland Planning, and we were all a bunch of Bunny Huggers and Historic Lefties. WEll this is a message to be heard loud a clear. the public will not stand for it, the archaeolgists will not stand for it, and if you want to still be in power ... don't mess with our heritage. I still have a Freedom of Information to rifle through... can't wait! He was also asked to confirm that Cllr. Melton authored the statement on behalf of the Fenland District Council. John was also asked if there were any plans for the statement to be issued by EDP on line or in print. John did confirm authenticity and chose not to comment further. The potentially scarey bit is the FOI request.
