BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Curator Kid - 18th December 2008 Quote:quote:Originally posted by BAJR Host Rescue would be the Vulcans (and yes I can do the hand thingy!). The CBA could be a generic Species such as 643, because they've been assimilated by The Borg in recent years. English Heritage can be the Klingons - a proud and honourable history but sadly on fallen times at the moment. The Government can be the Dominion from the other side of the Bajoran wormhole. SCAUM can be the Romulans - all shady and secretive. [8D] BAJR Federation : Second Draft - gorilla - 18th December 2008 Who are the Ferengi? And for that matter... Tribbles? BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Dirty Dave Lincoln - 18th December 2008 The government would be the Romuluns (devious and not to be trusted) and developers are naturally the Ferengi. Back on topic for me, i'm confused by one thing-the first four categories (member, student, affiliate and group affiliation)these would be what all BF members would belong to? so wouldn't that make the next three categories mentioned sought of the working groups which would work on behalf of and made up from them? if so how would there be representatives from seven categories? Whilst writing this I had an idea- if BF members are drawn from the whole of the UK it could end up (depending on how many people join- hopefully as many as possible) a lot of work on the shoulders of any individual representative, wouldn't it be better to spread the "load" by diving up the UK into perhaps four or five areas? then regional variations would be taken into account (for example London and the south-east could produce a lot of people to be represented on the council) and doesn't Scotland have a slightly different approach to archaeology, heritage and treasure trove etc? I know this would increase the numbers of council members, but could that be an advantage to actually making the BF work? If you need help in spreading the word about the BF-putting up posters?leaflets?- give us a call:face-approve: BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Curator Kid - 18th December 2008 The Council for Independant Archaeology can be the Tribbles. The Ferengi hmmm. Greedy, profit-driven, devious etc. Would have to be a bunch of consultants I'm afraid! :face-stir: BAJR Federation : Second Draft - tom wilson - 19th December 2008 hello all. I haven't been able to follow this debate recently, but let me get one thing straight rather than wade through all the details first. So, membership is not open to people with permanent jobs in large or middle-sized companies, right? OK, I'll be off then. Tom BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Sparky - 19th December 2008 I'll second that, Tom. 'Mum!!! Can you get me the toilet roll, please!' Noam Chomsky BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Oxbeast - 19th December 2008 me too Tom. I don't really understand having categories for students and people who are not involved in archaeology or based abroad while excluding middle sized-large companies and local authorities. Unless they count within "individual or small group who is active within what can broadly be termed archaeology within the UK." BAJR Federation : Second Draft - BAJR Host - 19th December 2008 Easy to rectify... Either you are a sole trader/freelancer/individual specialist OR a student OR a short term contractor anyone else can be an affiliate member... but remember this is not designed to replace anyone.. you can be in a union... you can be in an RO you can be in SCAUM/FAME you can also be in BAJE Federation, however, as a full time employed person, your reprentation is already there... however, your input into an inclusive federation is welcome. The "Gie's a Job.." Prof. 'Dolly' Parton BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Sparky - 19th December 2008 The? 'Mum!!! Can you get me the toilet roll, please!' Noam Chomsky BAJR Federation : Second Draft - Sparky - 19th December 2008 Fair enough. 'Mum!!! Can you get me the toilet roll, please!' Noam Chomsky |
