Not sure if its of that much use, or if its been discussed elsewhere but you might like to try

Doesn't have APs but the maps appear more up to date than Google (at least in my region)

OSM may not have satellite imagery, but it does contain more and or different data (eg cycle paths). You can also (via cloudmade) draw them in a different style, or even create your own style - http://maps.cloudmade.com (click on the change style section).
