Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - Oxbeast - 5th May 2005 How did that Diggers' Forum meeting in Cambridge go recently? Anyone out there go? Was there a response of any kind from the IFA proper? I'm all for the idea, but if the IFA cannot be engaged in discussion, I'm not sure how they could be. Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - deepdigger - 6th May 2005 This is the root of the problem, the ifa is disengaged with the people who not only pay their wages but also the people who they are supposed to be supporting (one and the same i know). the dual mandate that the ifa have set for themselves cannot in my opinion be carried out, you are either a proffesional body providing standards for companies to work to or you are a union, at the moment they are neither. deep Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - the invisible man - 6th May 2005 A professional body, or institute, provides standards and so on for members of that profession, whether or not they are individual professionals or corporate bodies. It is not a union. Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - deepdigger - 6th May 2005 So, which are they then? deep Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - the invisible man - 7th May 2005 They're trying to be the professional institute. Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - BAJR Host - 7th May 2005 25 years of practice... they must be getting quite good at it by now. Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - the invisible man - 7th May 2005 You impetuous youth! Rome wasn't built in a day you know... We've had railways for nearly 200 years now, and they still don't work... Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - BAJR Host - 8th May 2005 Rome.... I would be happy with Slough! Hmmm... A bunch of ol' steamers that keep derailing ....... good analogy Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - troll - 8th May 2005 Said it before troops- one sure-fire way of prompting a response from the IFA would be to open the discussions with the owners of the finite resource.Mr and Mrs Public. Will be one of my approaches after due consultation with your good selves. A gun to the head (metaphorical of course) can loosen the tongue of the even the most arrogant... Institute of Field Archaeologists and Prospect - deepdigger - 9th May 2005 a good shot of sodium pentathol works in the films too troll. deep |
