Best day ever - sarahlouise - 18th October 2006 I know troll but isnt there just one, glorious, day when you were not battling the evils of archaeology or even(I might be asking too much here) working for a company of high repute and found some amazing archaeology - and it just reminded you of why you love doing what you do!!! I have loads of these days e.g. community excavation of a medieval tower house where we found full courtyard, kitchens, main hall etc (and I do not even like doing medieval stuff usually!!) or cist burial with complete pot to name just two. Best day ever - Penfold - 18th October 2006 You dont like doing Medieval stuff?? Go wash your mouth out with soap, for shame Vive La Revolution Penfold Best day ever - stripeykelly - 18th October 2006 OK best days. When I got to excavate several lovely pits chock full of Neolithic pot, hammerstones, flint and insitu burnt wattling that they had used to line said pit. OOOOO it makes me wet mesel just thinking of it - and the weather was fandabbydozy! Then the lovely beautiful Romano-British corn-kiln with several broken quernstones, lots of pot. The feature was clay lined, all insitu, with fab strat, and to top it off, a later cremation dug into the top of it - aaaahhhh! And i got to dig it all by myself heheheh! Or when we recently discovered a wonderful intact and SEALED prehistoric landscape under a 12th century priory, with features and topsoil chock full of beautiful flints, then it became one of the worst days when the county mounty decided it 'wasn't relevant', and the unit director was equally interested. Ahhh, professionalism with a capital P. It may be gone now - sob!:face-confused: the future's bright; the future's trowel shaped Best day ever - sarahlouise - 18th October 2006 I know I am sorry Penfold - I am trying to sort myself out at the moment and re-adjust my attidude considering I primarily work for a medieval standing building expert.... but prehistory is just so much more scrummy!!!! I need a tagline dont I! Best day ever - deepdigger - 14th November 2006 Ah!!!! The joys of Llandaff cathedral, someone telling the Bishop of Llandaff that my name was Ozzy Osbourne, and him coming out every morning hence saying "Morning Ozzy"!! deep |
