Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Boxoffrogs - 9th August 2011 Many years ago I marched through London to 'Ban the Bomb', a few years later I marched to the tune of the ' Anti Nazi League' then I marched against the Poll Tax. The only thing that it cahnged was the depth of leather on the soles of my shoes.Feel free to go but try not to burn the capital or mob the police or loot a shop or dangle from a British Legion flag...... Beware the anarchists are about... Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Jack - 9th August 2011 Yeah I was expecting some anarchist twaddle posted supporting the riots. Having been a once-anarchy advocate I think anyone who thinks that the government should be brought down and replaced with anarchy should live in a country where there is no law for a few years (like the congo) and see how much they like it! The right for peaceful protest is an important freedom. Rioting, looting and civil disorder threaten those rights for all of us! Bring down the anarchists I say! Rise up and tear down their tyranny of hoodies, balaclavas. Disrupt their policies of window breaking and stone-throwing But don't get me started. Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Boxoffrogs - 9th August 2011 Ahhh! All is well David Cameron has returned from his hols to share with us..... Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - GnomeKing - 9th August 2011 i think it is quite clear how current economic, political and social events affect us all, and especially the climate in which commercial archaeologists are seeking to operate. eg: http://www.pakalertpress.com/2011/08/07/run-on-us-european-banks-brings-world-to-brink-of-war/ There is also a clear connection between war expenditure and national debt. Eg: "The Assembly will also be making the link between the vast expenditure on these war policies and the savage cuts in public services we are told are necessary to pay off the national debt. Afghanistan and Libya are costing around ?6bn a year, on top of the ?26bn annual defence budget. Maintaining the Trident nuclear missile system costs another ?2.2bn a year, and ?100bn is planned for its renewal. It's not hard to do the maths for how the national debt of around ?70bn could be paid off without wiping out whole sections of our health, education and social services." "the outlook for the economies of Old Capitalism is particularly bleak. Their political leaderships have no real solutions. All that is being offered is austerity – the brazen attempt to foist the immense costs of the bankers’ crisis onto workers and the rest of society. It is already creating immense hardship for millions, and as it clamps down on spending, it will simply worsen the recession. The Europe Against Austerity Conference, taking place in London on 1 October, will be an important first step in pulling together a Europe-wide resistance to austerity and the crash. It is vital, as the deepest spending cuts for a generation or more begin to bite, that we start to assemble a mass movement of all those opposing austerity, continent-wide, offering an alternative to the rule of finance. http://www.europeagainstausterity.org/category/articles/ http://www.nasdaq.com/aspx/stock-market-news-story.aspx?storyid=201108090402dowjonesdjonline000097&title=uk-ministerwill-consider-new-tacticsresources-to-end-riots " Brutal austerity measures, spending cuts to every public service, rising unemployment, attacks on education, police tactics on demonstrations and the increased use of stop and search has meant that anger towards this government has heated up to boiling point." "we will understand nothing of these events if we ignore the history and the context in which they occur" http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/aug/08/context-london-riots http://www.womensviewsonnews.org/2011/08/clash-between-teenage-girl-and-police-sparked-london-riots/ Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - GnomeKing - 9th August 2011 Cameron to Step Down, Recognize Rioters as Legitimate Government? http://www.infowars.com/cameron-to-step-down-recognize-rioters-as-legitimate-government-satire/ Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - vulpes - 10th August 2011 Middle class to take looting lessons http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/middle-class-to-take-looting-lessons-201108084167/ Incidentally how did this go Gnomey? Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Jack - 10th August 2011 Hooray. Communities unite to stand against anarchy http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fed-residents-form-anti-looter-patrols-062625198.html Thats certainly what I'd do! There is no excuse for looting or burning peoples homes and businesses. Everyone in this country owes society a debt. From birth, to immunisation, to education, the bravery of the emergency services, council housing, to benefits and defence economically and from invasion (WWII) (I wouldn't include recent dodgy wars)....we all owe those who gave so much and continue to Society doesn't owe these thugs a thing......... In my mind they deserve a good kicking followed by a re-education through a brutal military-run conscription to community work. Starting with cleaning up and re-building the mess they've made. Followed by paying back for what they did to those communities in hard graft. And that goes for anyone committing any similar acts of wanton destruction and/or theft. Its about time the bleeding-heart liberals took a back seat and we had a return to effective law enforcement/ repaying of debts to society. After all that they can be put to good work on Dino's early prehistoric monstrosity !}:face-stir:? Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - GnomeKing - 10th August 2011 False Flag operations are no Comic matter AD...lets not go there. Stirry-J:This comic-book is not a nice one: "In my mind they deserve a good kicking followed by a re-education through a brutal military-run conscription to community work. Starting with cleaning up and re-building the mess they've made. Followed by paying back for what they did to those communities in hard graft." Perhaps we could just start by building local assemblies and communities that do not breed this level of social unrest, and work towards a national governance that can start repairing very deep damage...brutalisation/militarisation are not a way to bring about effective positive/lasting change in the Real World...education and integration are better. Local Communities protecting themselves is a good thing - remember many of those same communities are also (and have been for many years) furious at the Police...and recent revelations of rampant corruption at the Met in particular clearly have not helped build trust/respect. Although Gangs are clearly organising raids, bystanders are also taking advantage... If we really want to stop these riots (and the mesmerising media spectacle) then really the streets should by filled with ordinary people chasing these Bandits off. If my house, neighbours, local shop or street are directly threatened by similar thugs I will not hesitate to take '"robust measures" - Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - P Prentice - 10th August 2011 Jack Wrote:In my mind they deserve a good kicking followed by a re-education through a brutal military-run conscription to community work.
