Contninuing Professional Development Log - mendipgeoarch - 5th January 2014 The majority of professional institutes require corporate members to keep an up to date CPD, some of the institutes will carry out an audit of CPD about every 3 years. Once you get into the habit it is not difficult to keep a record of your activities. I use three headings: Description of activity - could be reading, conference, internet, other media, community project, anything you think relevant Date(s) of activity Outcome/experience gained - speaks for itself really, it's worth recording the time spent on each activity Contninuing Professional Development Log - Tool - 5th January 2014 Sooooo.... is this something I should be looking into once passed the trainee stage? Contninuing Professional Development Log - Dinosaur - 5th January 2014 The trainee stage is when you'll be doing the most 'developing'! ...am guessing you're post-puberty... Post- most things by the feel of it! xx( Contninuing Professional Development Log - mendipgeoarch - 5th January 2014 Not really Tool, I regard it as a more professional approach and keeping abreast of new developments in archaeology, and it is something you should have started as a trainee. Contninuing Professional Development Log - Tool - 5th January 2014 I'm guessing my Trainee Development Log (or whatever it's called...) counts at this stage then. This world of archaeology is so different to what I was used to! Contninuing Professional Development Log - beamo - 6th January 2014 I started my CPD log for the same reason that Martin did (see earlier response), i.e. because the IfA wanted to see a copy of it. However since then I have updated it as soon as there has been anything new to add rather than (as suggested by Martin) that it could be an end-of-year chore. There is no correct way to go about this - just go with whatever suits you at the time. Beamo Contninuing Professional Development Log - Jack - 10th January 2014 I regularly update my CPD log......but then again I am a pedant bordering on OCD. We have a training plan document that is discussed and added to during a yearly appraisal which sets out what you want to learn or gain experience in in the forthcoming year.... and a CPD log which is a simple table that records any training be it on a course, external trainers coming in, internal training e.g. 'how to do...', self training e.g. research. I agree that site inductions are not part of CPD unless of course you had a really good one that actually taught you something that is a) a true reflection of HSE guidelines or b) actually about safety (unlikely). CSCS would be, well preparing for, though now it's 'health, safety and environment operatives test'. I guess I'd say put anything down where you feel you have learned something, especially if you want to use it as part of a cv. Oh, and Dino......I guess you can't teach an old dog (or dinosaur) new tricks. } Contninuing Professional Development Log - Dinosaur - 10th January 2014 Jack Wrote:We have a training plan document that is discussed and added to during a yearly appraisal which sets out what you want to learn or gain experience in in the forthcoming year.... We do? How exciting! Must check that out Actually I'm still waiting for my 2011 or 2012 annual review (have lost track), you're clearly one of the lucky few |
