Gets weirder, a lot of the inhumation graves in the vicinity seem to have more calcined bone in the backfill than is turning up in most of the actual cremations! Running hypothesis is communal pyre site subsequently used for inhumation cemetery, and the cremation guys weren't much good at cleaning up after themselves leaving a good layer of residual crem bone lying about to subsequently wind up as grave-backfill. Good thing we've 100% sampled all the grave fills :face-approve: ...except of course for the lucky soul who gets to process all the samples
