The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - Reggie - 3rd December 2005 Sniper has a good point, and its not the first time I've heard it !! I think the paid-in-advance leave system is good overall just badly managed. Just because you get paid for leave in advance doesn't mean that you are no longer entitled to take time off but in practice some staff seem to be constantly too busy working to project deadlines to actually take their leave allowance. This is crazy and as long as staff keep accepting it the longer it will go on. The fact that people become more or less effectively permanent but still on temporary contracts is a separate and probably more important issue that requires tackling by both employer and employee. I know I only got into this game recently and I have a lot to learn but what I have observed so far there is a lot of "well, that's how it is, just accept it" attitude amongst many staff, presumably either because people have put it with it for a long time, don't want to rock the boat, or have simply have never experienced anything better and don't know what they are missing! I am far too long in the tooth and far too pig-headed to just accept poor conditions of service or denial of agreed benefits/entitlements without good reason so finding an employer that I am happy with is going to be like finding the proverbial rocking horse xxxx. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - mercenary - 3rd December 2005 We usually get off as a bonus the time between xmas and new years. Plus a meal/party on the company. Last year about 10 of us got a trip to big piss-up (TAG conference) in Glasgow instead of a party. Fees and travel paid by company. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - gumbo - 3rd December 2005 Ok to clarify. I think we are having a Xmas meal on the 16th (paid for but at lunch time?!, so dont know how afternoon will go). I wasnt muttering about my leave, if anything I am confused about how many days annual leave I will end up having to take (I will of course have to clarify this). I personally would want to work to the 23rd as I like my time off in the summer. Im drinking again Kevin G The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - BAJR Host - 3rd December 2005 A the joys of Council holidays too... because I only work for the council 2 days a week I am entitled to 7 days holiday a year.... pity I have to use 5 of them over the festive period.... :face-confused: ah well.... I would be working anyway.... seven days a week.. Just finished a tree survey today... as the light failed the rain came down... phew - that was close..! Holidays... pah! Another day another WSI? The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - the invisible man - 4th December 2005 And I notice that David Connolly came on as a 65th minute substitute for Wigan Athletic yesterday...... busy and milti-talented! (Mind you, you lost 3-0...) We owe the dead nothing but the truth. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - BAJR Host - 4th December 2005 Some of my other personas also fought in Vietnam and Afghanistan... (lost 3-0 as well!) plus I am a dancer... Google your name this Xmas Another day another WSI? The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - vulpes - 5th December 2005 I work for ASC Ltd (for the time being - until I move to Archaeology Cymru) and [u]all</u> staff get christmas week off on full pay, plus a christmas bonus of a weeks pay, and a slap up christmas meal paid for.
