A quick update on this document - I understand that the IfA are now proposing a further round of consultation (perhaps in recognition that they got the first attempt pretty wrong). A second draft is now being produced which I believe will be issued for consultation in May before being (they hope) put forward for adoption at the IfAs October AGM.

To be fair to the IfA...I always am....they put the document out for consultation and as a result have decided to reconsider. Many said it was already a done deal and I am pleased they are taking the views of respondents seriously.....plus of course the publishing of NPPF needs also to be taken into account....so I would say all in all - a small delay, but in general a wise move.

Mmmmm....I'm sure you are right the `pause` will address the consequences of NPPF. However, I'm less sure there will be a direct response to concerns regarding the statement on accreditation within the Standard. The IfA response to the publication of the NPPF includes the following quote (my bold):
Tim Howard, IfA Policy Advisor says
‘To support the historic environment chapter of the Framework, a Practice Guide must strongly reinforce the importance of archaeological standards and accredited expertise. It must ensure appropriate protection in practice of both designated and undesignated heritage assets proportionate to their significance. Our draft Standard and guidance for archaeological advice by historic environment services fulfils a similar aim and sets out what is required for the management of archaeology under the Framework.’
Sounds like a done deal to me.

wheres your your info from. IFA pages dont seem to say that they are dropping anything- and they do have a whole conferenece based on advisors who have to pretend to do archaeology to sell tickets for.
Still outstanding is how much has englisheritage and all the other natoinalist heritage advisors paid to the ifa to get a standard and guidence and now presumably for when? Is that the type of thing that can be asked at an agm?

The long term focus has been responsible durisdictions, but the transition to a broader industry production range of heritage elements, just too easily lends itself to innovative non-communication.
Innovation/intellectual property which can too easily support old systems, within growth opportunities.
So the main drive needs to encompass closing skill groupings (skill panics), with transferable pooled skill bases (investors in people), whilst also transitioning to fixed contract deliveries (career development parralleled with directed skill diversifications), that are assessed at the end as much as fulfilling requirements at the beginning (hopefully throughout, but depending on contracts).
What is the nature of professional credibility (Qualified/Qualified), when it comes down to integrity and community directionality?!? (VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR US)
