do I have muppet written on my forehead? - BAJR Host - 10th January 2006 http://www.bajr.org/BAJRPolls/default.asp there you go Another day another WSI? do I have muppet written on my forehead? - troll - 19th January 2006 Any movement on the SCAUM manual front gents? ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) do I have muppet written on my forehead? - 1man1desk - 27th February 2006 One of my colleagues has brought the following to my attention: Quote:quote:As you probably aware archaeologists can now get a CSCS white card (http://www.cscs.uk.com/occupations/croA-B.asp?cat=occupations_available). From the 1st of August this replaced the old letter of non-availability. The CSCS website has a new list of "Construction Related Occupations", which qualify for a White Card, and which includes "Archaeologist Technician", which is at the "Craft and Operative" level. It also says the following: Quote:quote:WHITE CARD - CONSTRUCTION RELATED OCCUPATION (CRO) CSCS cards certify the holder as being qualified to do the job concerned, as part of which they have to pass a health-and-safety knowledge test. The latter is the main reason for requiring staff to hold a card. For some archaeologists, it is possible to obtain cards at a "Technical, Managerial and Supervisory" level rather than a "Craft and Operative" level, although these will not name you as an archaeologist. I, for instance, am accredited as an "Environmental Manager", while one of my colleagues is a "Conservation Consultant", while in fact both of us are archaeologists. 1man1desk to let, fully furnished do I have muppet written on my forehead? - troll - 1st March 2006 Many thanx 1man. ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) do I have muppet written on my forehead? - Wanderingape - 9th March 2006 Sorry for my late addition to this topic guys, im new ! Got a couple of good (depending on how you view it) incidents of poor H+S. 1) On border of Derbyshire and Leicestershire late December/early January, excavating tunnel kilns with no toilets, no shelter and only cars for warmth! 2) Colleagues working less than feet away from a wall whose integrity has been seriously effected by machining, add to this LOTS of rain and cold weather and you've got potential hospitalisation! B) do I have muppet written on my forehead? - diggerhobbit - 9th March 2006 iv just some great ones too: on a site for a couple of weeks in the middle of nowhere, no toilets, no cabins, cars parked miles away, reduced to peeing in local woodland. the number of times, iv shown my backside to a poor unsuspecting farmer/tractor drivers is scary.[:I] also fell down a badger set/fox hole type thing whilst on said journey to relieve oneself....[:0] mice infested cabins, having to defrost lock on corned beef can cabin during one bad winter using own flask of coffee only to find all wellies and boots frozen solid to floor ......why didnt i get past A in the ucas manual! } "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Remember the HOTline (see the BAJR front Page) Another day another WSI? do I have muppet written on my forehead? - mercenary - 10th March 2006 Sometimes notifying the local curator and/or consultant can get this resolved too. I can think of a couple of occasions when inadequate facilities have been improved when pressure has been brought to bear on the unit cheapskates. do I have muppet written on my forehead? - Curator Kid - 10th March 2006 Quote:quote:Originally posted by mercenary Couldn't agree more. I've done that a couple of times and it does work. do I have muppet written on my forehead? - Wanderingape - 10th March 2006 Quote:quote:Originally posted by Wanderingape Like to withdraw the above story as I got got the wrong end of the stick while the wall was being machined as myself (and several others) thought a concrete strut was being removed which would have made it unstable but this was not the case. Like to apologise to anyone i may have pissed off, should have got my facts straight, sorry. |
