Bought a second hand bed of gumtree this evening. Before purchase I checked with the owner that it took a standard sized double mattress, he's says yep. So drive out to collect it, it's dismantled so can't see it in it's glory.
Get home, build it, brilliant looks great, put mattress on, turns out the bed is three inches longer and an inch wider than the mattress. Grrr
Annoying, but would have been worse if the mattress was bigger than the bed, perhaps? You need a good old fashioned bolster for the end of the bed...

Indeed, it's nowhere near the end of the world. It was just annoying to discover that!

Probably is, but no stickers on it, and as it's made of metal no tell tale flat-pack-furniture-esque annoyances. Oh well. We've got pillows stuffed down the end now, just lost a bit of very valuable room space.

Main cheery bit today was seeing otters whilst walking the dog this morning...never seen them in the flesh before and what a joyful bunch they were...four of them in the river...fabulous sight.
