I've always preferred a t-shirt (green too).
Wasn't thinking gas chambers and ethnic cleansing,
But more like the punishment fitting the crime............repaying with money and or time (person hours) the damage done.
Seems to me people have too many freedoms and little of the responsibility that comes with it.
Its not the governments fault, its not society to blame, its not the police. Its the people committing the crimes fault.
People should be made responsible for their actions.
Bring back the ancient medieval Irish style of law. The perpetrators should work for those they have hurt (or their families) until the debt is paid back.
But modern society isn't structured in such a way, so form conscript academies where the perps live under strict discipline with strong role models and daily hard work until their debt is paid. You could even work towards a qualification/trade.
But to do so the perps would have to loose 'freedoms' but in my mind, rights should be earned.
So in that respect, yes my outlook is a bit fascist --- bring on starship trooper-land!

As long as a LOCAL community has power to impose...(don't want any of those private jails which use inmates as profitable slaves > chain of benefit from perp to citizen must be immediate/very short, or unfortunately somebody will need those star-troopers).....therefore, also not sure about 'academies'
Still remains the case that deep social unrest has manifest as chaos and violence > underlying issues need to be addressed. Despite the 'Looter/Rioter/Hoodie' meme, at least one BBC R4 interview from Croydon indicated that the Rioters we specifically, if inarticulately, angry at a world that seemed specifically created form them to fail in....
Unlike the more articulate and specific comments from several different BBC24 interviews, with non-rioting locals, from Toxteth, and Darcus Howe in London. Here, violence and looting were condemned, but considered understandable, because of history, and because of the generalised, inter-generational and widespread anger at the police, the media, the government, and especially THE BANKS.

In part I actually agree with Gnomey.....but to implement such radical reforms worldwide.....you'd need to be in charge of the world and I can only see one way to do that.

Russia today is hilarious.
I get it on my freeview box. Its worth a watch for a laugh. Especially when they do a report on something happening in America.
I enjoyed watching a documentary about a national park in the Urals that followed a couple of guides taking a couple of tourists on a long hike. The reporting was worse than channel 5! I loved the spooky rock outcrop that 'mystified experts' and had magical properties.

I think most of us agree that archaeology as we know it now has got to change and evolve-but how to affect this?
How about a demo in the name of archaeology instead of war-after all, no publicity is bad publicity!!!
