Help Identifying an Artefact No. 2 - CARTOON REALITY - 13th January 2013
Quote:This is far too shiny and nice for in the bilges.
May not be for the bilges Mr.D - may not even be a valve of the ball variety - could be any manner of seacock? But do agree the narrow end(top?) looks very fancy (would like to say it's a design approach to keeping the amount of raw material used in casting to a minimum, like on a steel ibeam - but that would just be bulls**ting!)
Quote:Does this object have a hole all the way through? That's not clear from the photo.
If it doesn't we're back to the tea caddy . . .
Quote:Looks like some sort of decorative brass mount to me...
Component part of a ships steam whistle/fog horn?
Quote:On a ship the size of the SS Teddington they wouldn't normally bother with a ball valve in the scuppers.
May not be off the Teddington? Could be off one of these:

The arrangement of those lugs seems quite telling . . . why are they not equidistant?

I'm pretty sure that diving suit belongs to Cthulhu.
Lots of ideas here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151291307058999&set=a.415329778998.190908.6251868998&type=1&theater

Hope the previous owner wasn't extracted through the fitting - might explain its conical shape though }
