The term 'site assistant' used to be applied to people who had been raised from the ranks to assist the Director/Supervisor(s) in recording etc, diggers were diggers - I'd been digging for years before I got promoted to such an exalted position ...so when did every digger get promoted? :face-stir:

That was my point though. ''Site assistants'' aren't actually assisting anybody, they're doing the job by themselves, under supervision by someone else. I think the job title is fairly misleading and demeaning.
