Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Taverna Cat - 24th May 2007 Tomorrow is absolutely the last day that I can wait for the order as I leave the country on Saturday. If it doesn't come tomorrow, then that's my next step. I only hung on this long because of last week's assurances, and then I was told that the order went in the post on Tuesday. If that's the case though, where is it?! Can you imagine how long it'll take to get my money back, when they can't even put an order in the post?! Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - BAJR Host - 24th May 2007 This is very disturbing... I am sadly away in Portugal jsut now... but can only apologise for getting the idea that your order.. and others would be dealt with. Ian... if you are listening.. I know you have problems.. but you are letting people down here. Taverna Cat needed this trowel.. but seems to ahve been let down... and promises must be met. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - uncle andy - 24th May 2007 I can say that I have now recieved my trowels. Overall, this experience has been a bad one. Regardless of the delays in delivery, for which Ian has already apologised, does it seem unusual that I was charged 12 pounds for postage and packaging, when the airmail sticker says 4 pounds 12? Even including the cost of the packaging and a trip down to the post office, this seems close to a 100% profit margin on handling.[xx(] Maybe there is a postage tax in England that I am unaware of. After all, we use kangaroos to deliver our mail down here. Still, at least I have my trowels, hope you find some resolution here Taverna. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Taverna Cat - 25th May 2007 Fantastic! Worth waiting for? Funny you should mention postage because I was actually just wondering how, with the money I'm paying, it seems to be taking rather a long time to arrive (if it's in the post at all of course). I've certainly paid for First Class (at least!) but if the order is indeed on its way, it's certainly not travelling First Class. The post arrives here in the department around 11am, so fingers crossed. PS. Bajr Host... Get a Trowel themselves gave the impression that orders were going out, so you've nothing to apologise for... Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Taverna Cat - 25th May 2007 Right, post has been and there's NOTHING from Get a Trowel. What can I say... Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - BAJR Host - 25th May 2007 All I can say taverna.. is email me your address in Greece... and I will see what I can do. info@bajr.org no promises, but will try.... I will have to consider some options I have been pondering with another supplier. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - drpeterwardle - 25th May 2007 There is also Cotswold Archaeological Tools. http://www.catsco.org.uk/ Have to say that all archaeological tool supplers are going to be a part time job or an on the side job given the margins so I am not surprised things have gone wrong. A 10% margin on p&p is not bad by ebay standards. Peter PS having looked at getatrowel web page I have changed my mind about them. There is nothing to say who they actually are. Equally I find some of the claims to be a bit over the top. They are asking for sponcors/ advertisers and claim 100,000k hits per year. They also say "GAT is also a hub for useful information for archaeology and will become an important resource in the future for social networking within the discipline.." I would therefore be grateful if getatrowel could give us more details of this and what they intend. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Timber Wolf - 25th May 2007 Get a trowel try to provide a service for archaeologists but if you need a trowel I find it best to use a reputable dealer. Whenever I need a new 4" WHS Archaeologist Trowel I use http://www.tool-up.co.uk they normally can get a trowel to you next working day and if there are any problems they let you know ASAP. They also email you to inform you when the trowel has been dispatches. hooowl Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - historic building - 26th May 2007 I would also suggest the wonderful York Survey Supplies for anything people need beyond trowels. http://www.yorksurvey.co.uk/ and they deliver when they promise. (I am not on commission) Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Taverna Cat - 27th May 2007 Right, well I'm in Greece now and without a new trowel. I have my trusty 22 year old scraper with me, looking very sorry for itself... so a trip to the DIY store when I've finished here is looking likely. I e-mailed Ian from Get a Trowel on Friday and actually got a reply. I didn't post here at the time because I was giving him a chance. Anyway, he said that he told me that my order was sent on Tuesday because a batch of orders was sent on Tuesday and he presumed that my order would have been amongst them. He didn't check though, he just presumed and told me to expect the order. He said that he would now check for a batch number and that *if* there was a problem that he would 'sort it'. IF? There's definitely a problem! He didn't even know what my order was, so he had never checked; not even when he was assuring me that it was on its way to me. Anyhow, I waited and waited to hear back from him, and sent another couple of e-mails... but silence. Nothing but silence. I've just checked my e-mails and there's still nothing so again, despite his promises, I can only assume that he did not go and check for my order on Friday, and that he did not check for any batch numbers, and that he had no intention of doing either of these things on Friday, or of sorting it. Ian had a very unhappy customer who he knew needed the order by Friday at the very latest, and who he had personally assured would get their order, and even assured that it had been sent. I'd been waiting ages, and promises had been made, so it's not like I was asking for a special rush job, or for him to go out of his way just for me. If he really cared about his customers, what would it have taken for him to put the order together himself and stick it in the post in time for Friday. But to promise that it's on its way when he hasn't even bothered to check?!! I'm sorry Ian, but your company is a disgrace and your complete disregard for the people who have paid you money (you know; customers) is shocking. You are happy to lie and bulls**t to people who relied on you for a service. |
