You could have different categories.... Bronze Silver Gold for the different disciplines or contributions.
I don't think they should be given away willy nilly... maybe. There could be employers who follow good practise or have shown excellent treatment of staff... and are give the Bajr award. A life long commitment or recognition for archaeological contribution....its quite endless really... but I believe it should be an honour and an achievement to have one. Not because you have letters after your name or have good "archaeology speak".

Don't know about awards but with some sites a campaign medal would be more appropiate!![8D]
The summer before last, a few of us had this all worked out: firstly it'd be site vs site within the same company, the ultimate winner would compete against another company and so on.
The games I can remember were the obligatory ranging pole javelin, spoil heap slalom, iron age ditch pole vault, wheelbarrow bobsleigh, wheelbarrow jousting... I know that we thought of more, but I've forgotten most of them!

Angi,if the proffesion was to get its own Olympics up and running we could stage it for example every 2years?but what about our version of the torch procession? (no body-guard thugs allowed) would it do a circuit of major historical sites,before being taken to stonehenge and lighting a big bonfire/wicker man (filled with rogue diggers guilty of heinous crimes against archaeology) to open the games.}
