Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - gorilla - 17th April 2009 Errr... where exactly will you pin the carnation? Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - BAJR Host - 17th April 2009 I think Mark Horton has a good idea... on my dead in the water body "Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage." Niccolo Machiavelli Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - muddyandcold - 17th April 2009 Quote:quote:Originally posted by BAJR Host But why don't you respond on britarch??? Excellant reply, seems to satisfy all answers?? So why does not mr hosty publish it on britarch? Mark Horton asks the same question? Not to respond does make one seem as if one has something to hide... Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - BAJR Host - 17th April 2009 Good question, and tricky one to answer. I left britarch after some previous comments that got personal, I felt it better to leave rather than bang my head repeatedly (I feel like your avatar!) The initial 'worthwhile debate' descended quickly into allegations and innuendo, which is what I objected to, the descision to remove entire threads was made by JISCMail - though Britarch was unhappy about it, the AUP is clear. I am drafting a statement for Britarch, though have no intention to join britarch to argue the toss, if they are interested in debate, they can come here. You know yourself I have nothing to hide, and indeed nothing to gain... (far from it) perhaps I could ask someone to publish the above on britarch. One must remember that the Federation is not me, it is all those that want it to be, so I would not be happy to 'represent' an organisation that has yet to formally exist, as it would be personal views, rather than that of the membership.... which would be unfair, and indeed look as if it was 'my' organisation rather than one consisting of hundreds of potential members. Do you think I should have the above published on britarch? Do you think it would satisfy the questions.. if so, then it may indeed by good to place it there. "Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage." Niccolo Machiavelli Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - BAJR Host - 17th April 2009 Can I remind people how this all started.. http://www.bajr.org/BAJRForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1970 back in December .. when the concept was first mooted and discussed. perhaps, Britarchers would be wise to read this first to see where it came from and how it began to evolve "Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage." Niccolo Machiavelli Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - BAJR Host - 17th April 2009 Talking with my wife, she agrees with you muddy, that I will have to speak up, though I will stress that I can't speak for those that wish to be part of the Federation, and it is still a work in progress, indedd it is taking longer than I thought.. becasue there are so many issues to deal with. What is celar, and should be made clear is that it what it is NOT, to assure people, who obvuiously fear it is an opposition movement. It is NOT a Union, it is NOT a professional standards organisation, it is NOT an alternative IfA. It will be (I hope) a place where a certain sector of archaeologists, can find support, can communicate, can have a voice as an entity, rather than be an individual. A federation need not be seen as a competitor, rather as a group that is obviously wanted, after all, I did not even start it, only went forward with the wishes and desires of hundreds of others, and the final form will be the collective ideas of those who contribute. here goes! "Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage." Niccolo Machiavelli Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - gorilla - 17th April 2009 Sigh... am I alone in wondering if British archaeology will ever get its act together? Some of the comments (or rather views) over at Britarch makes me think not. Sometimes, I just wonder why we bother Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - kevin wooldridge - 17th April 2009 So can I just be clear on the chronology of this David....you first mentioned the word 'Conferderation' at about 7.30pm on 1st December and I mentioned the words 'Pressure Group' at about 9.15 pm the same day. In that case I should be tarred with at least half of the poopy stick they are laying on you....and can I say I am very happy to accept the honour!! With peace and consolation hath dismist, And calm of mind all passion spent... Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - mattockman - 17th April 2009 When did it first manifest as a secret underground anarchist cell? Federation - for the benefit of Britarchers - kevin wooldridge - 17th April 2009 I have just been over to Britarch to look at some of the mails on this subject and (having retrieved most of them from my rubbish bin where all mails from certain posters to Britarch are automatically consigned) I wonder if John Armour hasn't done us all a big favour by bringing this subject to the attention of many folk who would in their normal glasshouses never come across a 'dirty digger'. I am certain that this bout of publicity could only come from a criminal mastermind intent on world (archaeological) domination and therefore have come to the following conclusion. John Armour is in fact really David Connolly. With peace and consolation hath dismist, And calm of mind all passion spent... |
