Time Team - Silent Bob - 12th May 2005 Had a look on that TT report website. A lot of those mentioned appear to be suspiciously short i.e. 4 or 5 pages. This ought to mean that they are not proper reports but 'shiny' summaries. Another of my moans about the programme is how mean they are to the people who are there to help them/do all the work. You'd have thought it wouldn't kill them to show everyone who worked on a programme at least once , say on the end credits. When I did a programme I actually got mentioned by name!! Wow what an honour (no actual pictures though). They often get local metal detectorists to hang around and go over their spoil heaps etc. I felt very bad for the poor guy who spent 3 days on our site, was totally ignored, but found several nice things. When said objects were found everyone suddenly ran over, whisked them from his hands and danced excitedly about (they may have been naked, I forget). Of course he was never shown on the t.v. at all. I later saw an embittered letter from him in a detecting magazine. Despite their general lack of concentration on finds such as coins etc. on the actual programmes I had a real sense of people wanting me to find such stuff, rather than boring old walls. Time Team - mary - 12th May 2005 I worked on a couple sites with Time Flyers while I was at uni - my head of dept presented it. The film crew were the worst problem "do you mind if we walk allover your nicely trowelled surface to get a better angle?" or "all background diggers stay still for the netx 30 minutes while we film this shot from 3 different angles so you don't interfere with continuity!" Time Team - sniper - 12th May 2005 good old Mark Horton eh. ......Edited........ ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ Time Team - deepdigger - 12th May 2005 Edited deep Time Team - sniper - 13th May 2005 Edited... ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ Time Team - troll - 13th May 2005 Guys, I have a list of pond-dwellers longer than the Torah. Try and stick to the question without attacking individuals you lot! Oh, oh no, oh sh*t, I sound like a responsible grown up! Seriously though, I did name someone on here that I saw as a complete fu**whit and frankly, if he ever came to me starving, I would`nt have offered him the sweetcorn out of my sh*t. Mr Hosty quite rightly pulled me up over that. Lets chew the issues on BAJR (in public) and keep names in the site hut (on long rolls of toilet paper?).p.s, quite agree..... ![]() Time Team - sniper - 13th May 2005 didn't say what I agreed with mind. but yes, OK, point taken, sorry, apologise for naming names, but I left it at that... ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ Time Team - troll - 13th May 2005 Thanks Sniper- spanking suspended..... ![]() Time Team - Petethedig - 13th May 2005 Do you not think that TT has actually made a rod for archaeologies back? By this I mean that it most definitely has inspired many a young person to enter this profession! By doing so is it not the case that archaeology is now over-manned? To many bods and not enough jobs! To me TT is a bucket full of crap and for all the reasons I've read so far.Interesting to see what people think, who have worked with them! Interesting topic! Evil to him who thinks evil. Time Team - BAJR Host - 13th May 2005 Thanks troll.... posts edited |
