but I am intrieged as to have they actually taught you anything worth knowing that you could not have got off the internet wit a bit of effort? so far..

Interesting question.....I am a distance learning student, so in that sense everything I get, I get from t' internet....but Yes there are things I have learnt from the course that I wouldn't have got from elsewhere - most importantly directing my reading to understand the areas of GIS where I was lacking in background, particularly the science and theory behind the practice of GIS....but I am mainly taking the course cos I need a MA from a reputable source to be able to continue competing in the Scandinavian job market.....time and patience are running out!!

Very regulated actually, particularly in Norway. A Masters qualification is just about 'de rigeur' for most archaeology work and a doctorate a necessity for many permanent positions. But the rewards are high...starting salary for a fresh Masters graduate is circa ?40,000 per year....

I can see why you'd need that kind of salary to afford the evening pint in Norway :face-stir:, but how else does the standard of living compare to the UK?

You would already be depressed after forking out ?8 for fags, going to a Leonard Cohen concert could push you over the edge - is there an equivalent for the Samaritans in Norway?
