Archpeople Recruitment - troll - 23rd April 2006 Morning Bajr man... "things are changing...things are happening....future is definately brighter..." Sounds good but what does this all mean? Are these not grand and unsubstantiated claims not dissimilar to those perceived to be offered by Archpeople? ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) Archpeople Recruitment - drpeterwardle - 23rd April 2006 Troll, I suggest that you indeed contact Archpeople and find out if what they are offerring and if it is acceptable to you. As an employer I have so far found Archpeople's service less than perfect. I put this down to the fact that it is a business start up. I await some basic answers to basic questions like does she have suitable staff and how much does she charge. Peter Archpeople Recruitment - troll - 23rd April 2006 Gday Sire, will endeavour to do just that.An honest, open and transparent testing of the waters so to speak. Will let you know sir. ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) Archpeople Recruitment - drpeterwardle - 23rd April 2006 Surely people using Archpeople and telling everybody on BAJR it is a good service would have been the best ad they could have had. I was perfectly willing to be the first person to try their services but this has not happened. Peter Archpeople Recruitment - troll - 23rd April 2006 We shall see sir. Will forward my details by next weekend when once again, I reach civilisation of sorts....... ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) Archpeople Recruitment - BAJR Host - 23rd April 2006 Ah Troll... sadly not insubstantial but actual changes. here are 3 1) April 2007 - new pay and conditions enforced on ALL RAOs 2) April 2007 (and run up on BAJR from May 15th 2006) All companies will be required to show wheher they provide holidays, weekly hour time, pension and sickness.) 3) new IFA Workplace Learning Bursary for Archaeological Skills - paid full rate! etc etc Digger Forum, Building regulations and standards, new guidance contracting units, proactive Tim Howard running about the country talking with people...looking to creating a 'movable pension schme' for diggers to take with them from site to site, a career grading system (by April 2007) - I could go on....... and these are only the things that ARE happening.. not might, not would be nice... but ARE. Anyway, back to Archpeople, as I have said many times, its up to the individual, I have talked with Natalie, and had business contact with her too..... do what you wish to do... I think it would be good to see her company succeed... but I do notice you are not actually able to answer the simple question of how they intend to change the pay and conditions - Give them the benefit of the doubt - yes!... but don't wade in and defend without knowing what you are actually defending - I am sure they are just as capable. Another day another WSI? Archpeople Recruitment - drpeterwardle - 23rd April 2006 You never know Troll you could end up working for the dark side. Peter Archpeople Recruitment - troll - 23rd April 2006 Who said I was defending anyone? I just said that I would try out the service.Where is the change in standards and policing? Where is the change in the policing of IFA members? The IFA have been and continue to be defended here ad nausiem. If the IFA can enforce pay limits on the RAOs-why can`t they enforce professional standards?Doctor Wardle sir...never never...never!!! ..knowledge without action is insanity and action without knowledge is vanity..(imam ghazali,ayyuhal-walad) Archpeople Recruitment - BAJR Host - 23rd April 2006 Quote:quote:How is it that an organisation can set itself up as an institute and little or no criticism is levelled at it but when an individual attempts something that might actually work-we demand to know how much field experience the individual has? Wakey wakey peeps-there are plenty of targets out there that deserve your derision, why reserve it for someone trying to make a difference? Looks like a defence to me Or was it just an opportunity to have a go at the IFA? Why can't they enforce conditions? well because if people don't tell them - or just make vague claims... (I know only too well myself from the BAJR Hotline... what can and can't be done) So I say... try out Archpeople... why not... (I can't say I know how and what they offer.. ) its up to you... come back when you can tell us all more. As to the IFA... that is for the IFA section of the forum... and I fear that no answer will satisfy... I went and talked with them, listened to them, criticised them and praised them, found out more, and saw where changes are needed, understood why certain things happen the way they do, etc etc etc... at the BAJR conference you will be able to have face to face talks with the IFA... perhaps thats a start. Another day another WSI? Archpeople Recruitment - Archpeople - 24th April 2006 More interesting speculation about Archpeople I see. Firstly, website - my fault entirely I decided to make changes at the last minute Secondly, I don't know where you get your information from (I would be curious to find out! Certainly the bit about my age!) but I have certainly had a lot more experience than a "couple of months" Thirdly, If you don't want to register with Archpeople - don't - if you are interested - contact us (this is not an advert but a comment by the way) Fourthly, however much these discussions are interesting, both BAJR and I are not connected and should not be treated as such, therefore, I repeat point three. I'm sure BAJR has heard enough about Archpeople by now. Fifthly, like you said mein host, if enough people are interested in changing pay and work conditions......
