Google Ads on Forum - ex-archaeologist - 28th August 2010 I was just about to comment on the flash Scientology video at the top of this page, 'Looking for something more?' when it disappeared to be replaced by adverts for plastic surgery and Christian singles. Has any one actually watched one of the scientology video's yet?... Are they going to appear brain washed in the van to site on Tuesday morning? ..."What did you do over the weekend?"... "I became a higher operating Thetian". I know I originally blamed Unit of 1, for bringing Scientologists onto BAJR, but maybe they have been out there all this time reading our postings, possibly those on the IFA a few weeks back, and sensing the mood have decided that we need their counsel. From little I understand of it the chronology/ doctrine of Scientology goes something like this; 1. Sci-Fi writer decided to start to start a religion "because that's where the money is" (He was actually quoted as saying that). 2. Converts the plot of his latest airport novel into a church, holding that the world was created by 'higher operating Thetians'. As Tom Cruise is apparently one of these, this means that whilst the Christian Church has God, the Scientology 'church' has ''that bloke from Top Gun". 3. Religious 'services' are lifted from the Catholic confessional, although in deference to late 20th century American consumerism the 'priest'/ Thetian charges each member of the 'congregation' thousands of pounds to hear it. 4. Chef from South Park is one, although I am not sure whether he is a God or not. If there are any Scientology lawyers out there, I may have mis-remembered some of the above from various news reports I have seen over the years, so please don't sue. Google Ads on Forum - BAJR - 29th August 2010 Love it... I am now prepared for Mondya.. fellow higher operating Thetian.. the truth is out there... and I'm scared! Cold we turn ourselves into a religion of lower barely functioning Bajerites ( posting on this forum will now cost ?300 a pop) Google Ads on Forum - Dinosaur - 29th August 2010 Why am I now getting a 'Things to do in Glasgow' add?...... Google Ads on Forum - ex-archaeologist - 29th August 2010 I think it is probably linking back to this from my original post Quote:I inadvertantly clicked on Unit of 1's BAJR page instead of the latest post icon and found that it is currently advertising links to the 'truth about scientology' and 'Gods True Church', which is apparently based in Glasgow.Good to see that the Scientology video is now playing alongside the post I wrote about them yesterday, I guess that counts as 'balance'. Oh, does anyone know anything about this lot who have now joined the Scientologists at the top of the masthead. Quote:The Higher Calling: Discover Meaning and Purpose. Connect now with Fellow Believers! To misquote Betjamin "come friendly religious cults and fall on BAJR" Perhaps actually, I should stop writing these sorts of posts less they attract adverts from some really sinister people. Google Ads on Forum - BAJR - 29th August 2010 Don't worry... the IfA don't advertise (only kidding!) Google Ads on Forum - deadlylampshade - 31st August 2010 Hee hee hee...live podcast from Sister Sandra Schneiders...nowt to do with Scientoligists I hope:0 St Isoceles and All the Angles...whatdoes that bring...was enjoying the elephant ambulance a couple of pages back. So what happes when you actuall say SPIDERS I wonder...?} Google Ads on Forum - BAJR - 31st August 2010 I am almost tempted by the Sister Sandra Schneiders podcast! Almost! Google Ads on Forum - deadlylampshade - 31st August 2010 Perhaps all these religiously linked adverts means they think we need saving from our Slough of Despond... Google Ads on Forum - ex-archaeologist - 1st September 2010 All the themes in this thread come together into one ad. If I type archaeology, historic buildings, planning advice or careers in heritage, I wonder if it will turn up adverts which people will actually find useful or just more pleas for demobbed squadies to go back to Afganistan to help mend tanks. Google Ads on Forum - BAJR - 1st September 2010 er..... on balance.. um... no... The holy Roman BAJR.. I like it... nice robes as well! |
