It makes for an amazing novel, but not sure the author meant it as a scientific theory :p Apparently this story was inspired by a novel by H. Rider Haggard, who also liked to put wild theories in his novels but would (hopefully) have laughed them off in real life.
Interesting theory. But considering that the 1950s bomb testing show up as a spike in background radiation, such an event would also be detectable. Easy test, measure the radioactivity of deposits/rocks/ bones etc on either side of the supposed event.
Pretty sure the data already exists, and the answer is no.

Although typological studies and categorisation have proven useful in ordering developments within the manufacture of objects. It has been shown as woefully inadequate in providing dating frameworks. Its time for a greater use and reliance in scientific dating.

what is this crazy talk - typology has never been used as a means of dating

If you knew when the event was, couldn't you date things like that? :o)
....oh, just been informed someone's already thought of that :face-crying:

So ten thousand years from now after what ever self inflicted disaster wipes us off the planet and several kilometres of ice have ground over the surface, what would remain of our current "civilisation". ?

I bet Ryanair flies to "Submerged Liberty Parkway International", a small airfield about 50 miles away with an extortionately-priced twice-daily rail shuttle service to the actual submerged Liberty.
