I liked 'two men in a trench'.
In the ones I saw........
They had a plan (objective).
Did preliminary works to look for best spot to dig a trench or two (geophysics, map regression, etc etc).
Dug some trenches
Got dirty and wet
Usually didn't find much.
Seemed very like field archaeology to me

Pub Dig had beer! (and other brews)
And somehow the trenching managed to look more 'real' than TT - the only trenches I've ever dug round the back of a pub certainly came with free beers anyway, and also found XXXX-all

Yes, that is a excellent blog post - thanks for flagging it up. Apart from the 3 day evaluation as commercial norm bit, reckon she's pretty much spot on throughout.
