E-Petition - Cautionary Tale - 26th April 2007 The IFA say "The archaeological profession provides more than 5000 jobs and contributes over £100m to the UK economy every year." Can't back it up, but I think this figure is a little on the conservative side. The petition made it onto the IFA homepage about an hour ago, but no text attached to it (being positive or negative) about the IFA view of the aims of the petition. I maiali sono alimentati e aspettano per volare E-Petition - Orkynowot - 26th April 2007 How many field archaeologists will get the chance to sign this is a concern, many of us dont have regular access to the internet, and they wont get the extention lead to reach the site, good to see a few names on the petition that I recognise, a few are mates that have no idea what end of the trowel to use. May god go with you in all the dark places you must walk. E-Petition - BAJR Host - 29th April 2007 Signatures: 809 "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu E-Petition - Orkynowot - 29th April 2007 How come the face of Archaeology Time Teams own Tony Robinson has not signed petition. Is there anyone else thats famous we could get to sign the petition? May god go with you in all the dark places you must walk. E-Petition - Digger - 30th April 2007 Now on 880!I think we could all push this along by taking a little time to let friends and families no about the petition. The more the better. And where are the public faces of archaeology as already mentioned? Julian, Tony- hello are you out there??????[?] E-Petition - BAJR Host - 30th April 2007 Perhaps they would care to contribute to a more formalised statement - which lays out a methodolgy for change as well as a demand. TRAINING for one!! training to provide the archaeologists of the future... subsidised? Courses? Apprenticeship positions... Support. This is over and above the IFA Bursary Scheme, which is good, but limited in reach. We need regional training centres for excavation and fieldwork... run well... training well and producing verifiable (for contractors) archaeologists. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu E-Petition - Digger - 2nd May 2007 Well, the petition has finally cracked 1000 signitures at 9.30am!:face-approve: E-Petition - BAJR Host - 6th May 2007 Signatures: 1,112 as of Sunday 6th may well ahead of many petitions.. and in the group that I might hazard to say are sensible ones http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/list/open?cat=981 8th out of 256 in that category though only one looks slightly dubious Quote:quote:Reduce or take away benefit from people who show no itention of working- well thats me out of a job then "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu E-Petition - historic building - 6th May 2007 And only just behind the engineers who are asking for the same thing. E-Petition - BAJR Host - 6th May 2007 Perhaps we should get together... strangely the name for an archaeologist in Arabic is Mohandis Athar (scuse the translation) "Engineer of old things"! "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu |
