Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Taverna Cat - 1st June 2007 Those comments were my opinion based on my experience. Why didn't you ask me to edit them before doing it for me?! Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - drpeterwardle - 1st June 2007 Taverna Cat, I am a moderator having to check BAJR during my core work time. Simply editing the email was quicker and allowed me to remove the offending comments quickly rather than waiting for you in a foreign land to drive to a inter net cafe this evening. You are entitled to your opinions but you may not post such comments here. In the UK we have strict laws about what can and cannot be published. Bajr can also be sued for any message here which is actionable. Peter Wardle Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - drpeterwardle - 1st June 2007 I have tried contacting getatrowel myself in order to resolve Taverna Cats problem. I will let everybody know the outcome once I hear back from them. In the mean time can we move on. Dr Peter Wardle Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - drpeterwardle - 1st June 2007 I have looked at the situation in detail based on what Taverna Cat says in her posts which are inconsistent and getatrowel web site. The long and short of it is that getatrowel have done nothing wrong yet. They say clearly that 28 days should be allowed for delivery. Taverna Cat placed her order less than 28 days before she left for Greece. Have her trowels been delivered to her department yet? Has she checked they are not lost in the internal post? If getatrowel records shows that the goods have been delivered to the university (not the person) they are within their rights not to give a refund until the goods have been returned. Getatrowel do say that normally trowels are dispatched within 2 days but they donot garantuee this. Getatrowel have also apologised for a slower than normal delivery time. Taverna Cat clearly is not happy about the situation but she should have ordered her trowels earlier to garantuee delivery before she departed to Greece. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - uncle andy - 1st June 2007 I think perhaps that this discussion has moved beyond the realms of the forum. The original issue here was poor communication from Getatrowel, however Ian has not refunded Taverna Cat's order, which he has promised to do in his personal emails. I think it would be best for all if this matter was dealt with quickly (Ian?) and we all moved on. It is not the responsibility of the host/moderators to interfere in a commercial matter on anybodys behalf, and quite frankly it does not look good for BAJR if they do. Given that GAT has freely used this forum to their advantage in the past, it should not be unexpected that the same forum will be used for complaints, but I think that the message has gotten through to the public (if not GAT). Lets not reduce this forum to a sniping competition. If your not involved then pull your head in. I hope that Taverna gets her $$$$$, but continuing this here clearly will not solve anything. Taverna, can your credit card company help you out? And Ian, whats going on? As an afterthought, I used GAT because of their publicity on this forum. Perhaps, to avoid future debarcles such as this, the AUP should be revisited to consider commercial posts. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - BAJR Host - 1st June 2007 Back from Holiday... As Dr Pete has said, there are AUPs that govern the use of this site.. I will also agree with Uncle Andy.. this forum can't condone sniping. GaT has been allowed to advertise on the Forum (after they asked) because of the ethos.. Advertising is strictly controlled.. and I want to stress that BAJR only advertises those that it feels are reputable and worthy.. I would still like to believe that is the case here, and what we have is an incident.. <albeit badly handled> that we hope is resolved. As you may notice, the BAJR site is not overrun with adverts.. thats because we (yes BAJR is now a we) don't need/care about the revenue from advertising.. I will check this one out again.. being allowed to advertise on BAJR is a privelige that can't be bought...... Commercial posts are only allowed after discussion... which GaT did at the time, and satisfied me about their honesty. ps..... I do feel that GaT should get T-Cat a trowel. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - Illuminated - 1st June 2007 I'd like to say I ordered a battiferrro trowel from get a trowel about 6 months ago and it arrived within a few days. I think that this thread has become far more damaging to to a small business than one mishandled order deserves. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - BAJR Host - 2nd June 2007 With that in mind shall we call this thread to a close. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - cadabra - 2nd June 2007 Hi there I stumbled across this forum when I typed in Getatrowel.co and was almost relieved to find others who felt they have been ripped off by this firm.I ordered a trowel on 7th April and despite the money being taken on 10th April I am STILL waiting.I realise you want to end this thread but I think it is important if you are promoting this firm you should take careful note of customers experiences. By 13th May I was worried and managed to find Ian Applgate's address and wrote by snail mail [phone and email was useless]he promised me by email on the 15 May I would get it in 3 to 5 days it is now over two more weeks! I hate being lied to and because I believed him I have now lost the chance To reclaim my money thro Paypal. It is also in the realms of fraud to take money and not supply anything. I am totally with Taverna Cat its not the amount of money but the principle and I feel sorry Taverna Cat is getting condecending posts I can assure you I am very angry too and wont let them get away with it either. As for the comment on putting a small business out of work I feel there are probably many more silent people out there waiting patiently like me. To add insult to injury I came across Ian Applegate's blog page Woes Whims an Whatnots an up to date blog for all to read on his move to London by the 2 June. If he has time to keep posting this and pictures of his family he would be better to divert his energies to customers. If you dont wish to post this at least send it to Taverna Cat I am with you all the way.Its only when you are on the receiving end of this firm can you really understand how Taverna Cat feels. I too would travel miles not let a firm rip people off. Get a Trowel - where's my order..?! - drpeterwardle - 2nd June 2007 Cadabra, This is your first post on the BAJR board - can you read the AUP. We have said that this thread is closed. David and myself are aware of the situation. If there others who have not recieved the goods perhaps you could email me or David directly using the private message function. Unlike Tavernacat you have a valid complaint however I am far from convinced that getatrowel are doing anything criminal (and no I dont have shares in them). Thanks to alerting us to Ian's blog site. This tells us that he is moving and changing jobs and that getatrowel is a sideline. I suspect therefore that getatrowel has grown too qucikly and they have been caught out by the demand. This is very common for small new businesses and after cashflow problems is the second commonest reason why businesses fail. There also seems to be an expectation that somebody who runs a small business cannot have leisure time. I will suggest to David that he locks this topic and I leave it to him to decide if he wants to edit Cadabra email. Peter Wardle Who is now going to order a trowel from getatrowel even though as a consultant I dont need one. |
