Time Team - troll - 15th May 2005
Not sure about the dressing up bit, maybe I`ve been on the wrong sites! Damn! Although I do harbour some fairly considerable misgivings about TT, and- I have to admit it is getting a bit tired, I would suggest that any new generic attempt would find it almost impossible to replace it in the eyes of the viewing public. Hence, the concept of change in situ....
As many other contributors here have pointed out, archaeology is much more than point of trowel. For my part, I would like to see archaeology portrayed as the enormous and complex endeavour that we all know and love-rather than a simplistic dig-fest where we are portrayed as simpletons embarked upon some contrived treasure hunt. We all know that archaeology is not just a linear equation, a "just-so" story. TT patronises the public and belittles the value of what we do.

how to change time team for the better?
pack it in altogether
although it has done a lot to get the public interested in archaeology, it does'nt really show the real facts of doing the job.
