Lots of Iron Age pot from a settlement in Suffolk, mainly 3rd to 1st century BC, but also earlier prehistoric. Second IA settlement underway. Unsurprisingly, digging team keen to stay put!

Evaluation trenches for a water treatment plant in north Wales, only real feature is a strange burnt mound/ cairn (not figured it out yet!). Great views as it's in the uplands but lots of snow, sleet, hail and rain!

Glad to hear some of us are still out there finding it! Rather than throwing money at the banks and government would do well to pump a load of money into more infrastructure work, i fancy a nice long bypass with loads of good archaeology. Must get out soon!!

I'll second that. How about an Archaeological New Deal. Lets answer some questions about our most famous archaeological sites. Research projects all round I say. Preservation In-situ be damned. Archaeologists need work!

Come on English Heritage/ spend some money so we can retain the skills in our profession. Is the banking sector really more worthy of a huge cash boost than the heritage sector?

I personally pledge that if I am kept in work on New Deal type research projects I will spend every surplus penny on consumer goods I don't need.:face-approve:

Was talking to my wife about this very thing last night... A new improved MSC style drive... lets get out there and do some archaeology, instead of mitigating the preservation of sub-surface deposits, ensuring long term preservation in situ! (ie... dig till you find something, if you are lucky, then stop and build a house on it)
