BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 2nd November 2008 Recognising websites showing excellence in Innovation, Education, Design and Content in Archaeology and Heritage. Here are the choices - Anyone can vote - registered or not. Frameworks T5 website. http://www.framearch.co.uk/t5/ Lockton and Levisham http://www.locktonlevisham.co.uk/default.asp Silchester Project http://www.silchester.rdg.ac.uk/home Community Landscape & Archaeology Survey Project http://www.claspweb.org.uk/ "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 3rd November 2008 I will explain my pick - Lockton and Levisham A simple no pretentious website that uses archaeology as part of helping the village. I very much like ho dynamic they are.. AND the walks give people something to do there. It is run by people from the village (with specialist help) and uses the skills people have, brings it together and makes something very pleasant. David "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 4th November 2008 oh its hotting up now!! Framework goes into an early lead....! you have until 1st December! "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 4th November 2008 wow... looks like the silchester crew are backing the site...! thats a big lead..! exciting! or what! "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 4th November 2008 only 3 members have voted so far... ... whotcha think?? "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - Digitaldigging - 4th November 2008 Interesting - that's a big jump. I voted for the T5 project (when I wasn't logged on). The amount of downloadable data is whet the internet was made for. I liked the Silchester one too, and it would have won my vote but the design changes so much from section to section that half the time I couldn't tell if I was on the same site or not. I'm aware that style isn't everything, but consistency of design is just one less distraction. And presentation is pretty important, particularly when the material is so good. BAJR Web Award - Digitaldigging - 4th November 2008 Though it's looking pretty academic now. . . BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 5th November 2008 blimey... you are not wrong... I too, think the T5 has loads on it, is well designed, and has info.. which as you say is the heart of a web deployment. I will be going to the village one day though.. and follow the trails! (the other sites have been emailed to let them know they can vote.! So its not over yet "I don't have an archaeological imagination.." Borekickers BAJR Web Award - chiz - 5th November 2008 I thought the LP Archaeology website for their Prescott Street excavation in London was excellent and would have voted for it: http://www.lparchaeology.com/prescot/ A great example of what could be done for any medium to large excavation given the will. It was done and updated as they dug, a pity other units in London have let their previous high standards slip in this regard. And no I don't work for them! BAJR Web Award - BAJR Host - 5th November 2008 and you will be glad to know they won the first web award.. and now display that award proudly... "I don't have an archaeological imagination.."
