Conflict of interest (not detecting related) - garybrun - 11th May 2006 The British Museum is responsible for administration of the Treasure system prior to an inquest and the Department for Culture Media & Sport is responsible for the administration of the valuation and post valuation stages of the treasure process. The DCMS will now transfer those administrative functions to the British Museum. Surly British Museum is a potential purchaser of treasure items, so isn't this a conflict of interest??? http://www.ukdfd.co.uk Recording OUR heritage for future generations. Conflict of interest (not detecting related) - dandan - 12th May 2006 The DCMS's proposals specifically state that the DCMS will continue to handle valuations of those finds where the BM has the primary interest; also that the Treasure Valuation Committee will continue to be appointed by the DCMS and that all that is proposed to be transferred is the secretarial function. So not an issue. Conflict of interest (not detecting related) - Paul Barford - 12th May 2006 I dont think Dandan many here saw it as an "issue". If anyone does, they still have until the end of June to raise it in the consultation. http://www.culture.gov.uk/global/consultations/2006+current+consultations/cons_ta_cop.htm Paul Barford Conflict of interest (not detecting related) - Steve-B - 12th May 2006 Hi Dan, great to see you here.... http://www.detector-distribution.co.uk For all your detecting needs. |
