Archaeomagnetic dating for free! (ish) - BAJR Host - 19th December 2008 The Archaeomagnetic Research Group within the Division of Archaeological Geographical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Bradford is looking to co-operate with archaeologists working on Iron Age sites in the UK. One aspect of our research is looking to improve our ability to date the events in the first millennium BC, see http://www.bradford.ac.uk/archenvi/research/archmag/archmag.php and http://www.student.brad.ac.uk/sclella1/phd.html for more details. Archaeomagnetic dating can provide a date of last firing for kilns, ovens, hypocausts, hearths etc. For best results these features should be constructed of clay and have been undisturbed since the last firing event. As part of this research archaeomagnetic samples will be collected and processed free of charge until November 2009. If you are interested or believe you have suitable features from late Bronze Age or Iron Age sites please contact Sarah-Jane Clelland, NERC research student, Division of AGES, School of Life Sciences, University of Bradford, Richmond, Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD7 1DP, tel 01274 233532, email, s.clelland1@bradford.ac.uk web http://www.student.brad.ac.uk/sclella1 "Gie's a Job.."
