USB Microscope - BAJR Host - 18th January 2009 Just seen this being talked about on a detecting Forum (cheers for the idea!) the link... http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase17.3&prodID=B175713 Cheapest I could find... £33.80 Hmmmm a lot of potential here! :face-huh: Here is the blurb............ Science is officially cool again - the television told us, so it must be true, and this microscope might just be the coolest geek gadget we've had land on our desks. It's really easy to install and even easier to use. Plug it in and it brings an image up on your computer screen of whatever the slick looking microscope is pointing at - you won't even have to strain your neck peering into a dusty eyepiece, it's all there on your monitor in full colour and with up to 200x magnification. You'll soon be looking at everything underneath it (we strongly recommend you start with a five pound note - the detail is amazing!). Fingernails, hairs, flies, possibly even your lunch leap into amazing and often alarming microscopic detail, and you can even take digital stills or movies at the click of a button. The last time most of us saw a microscope was a long time ago in a science class far, far away, but this stylish design is a long way from those piddly, fiddly things in the school lab, so it won't take up half your desk. You needn't just use the microscope for fun - the level of detail it brings makes it an essential tool for any aspiring model maker, electronics engineer and would be jeweller. As if this wasn't enough, the manufacturers have also included a program that gives you up to 2GB of online space, so that you can share your scary close-up photos and access them on any computer. It's a window into a whole new world. Features * A desktop Microscope that plugs into your computer. * The design makes it very easy to use and adjust. * Resolution of up to 1600 x 1200. * Up to 200x magnification. * Records movies in AVI and still images in JPG or BMP. * Requires Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista and at least 32MB free system memory plus 11.5MB Hard Drive Space. * Contains CD-Rom with Driver software and full instruction manual. * The included software allows you to store and share up to 2GB of files online, for free. * Requires a USB port. * Suitable for ages 8 years+. (thats fine for us then!) * Size: 14 x 12 x 7cm. "Gie's a Job.." Prof. 'Dolly' Parton USB Microscope - student@gla - 18th January 2009 I've used this! Prof. 'Dolly' Parton USB Microscope - matthew.law - 19th January 2009 I use something very similar to this from Maplin for assessments of mollusc assemblages. It's pretty good, and I like how easy it is to take pictures.
