Dragons Den for Archaeology... - BAJR Host - 12th March 2009 I have just split my sides.... this has appeared on the CBA site. Does anyone have a great archaeological business proposal to put to the new series of Dragons' Den? The BBC has begun production on the new series of Dragons' Den and is looking for diverse and different investment proposals. They have indicated that an archaeology-related investment proposal would be 'a real plus to the show'. For more details, visit the CBA news pages: http://www.britarch.ac.uk/news/090312-dragonsden [:p] Yup... I can see it now.... Humiliation as the weak business proposition crumbles before their gaze... That has cheered me up no end... just when things look bleak... the gods send a nugget like that! :face-approve: ?When a sinister person means to be your enemy, they always start by trying to become your friend.? William Blake Dragons Den for Archaeology... - drpeterwardle - 12th March 2009 Funnily enough David I was discussing a new enterprise this morning which would be suitable to pitch to them..... A monoply suituation ..... With major asset value .... With garantueed annual income.... An obvious exit strategy.... A very high return on capital.... Opportunities for diversification..... On one project I worked on we sold off soil garantueed as not having had pesticides used on it.... It sold quite well and the publicity was excellant. Have to say I laughed when I saw the CBA piece. Peter Dragons Den for Archaeology... - danhull@britarch.ac.uk - 17th March 2009 Go on - use your 'archaeological imaginations' Dan. Dragons Den for Archaeology... - kevin wooldridge - 17th March 2009 But here's an idea.....bearing in mind that the principles behind 'Dragon's Den' (unbridled greed, capitalism and self-satisfaction) have all been so discredited by the current recession and its causes...how about a TV programme celebrating contributions to society for the sake of the greater good, rather than hoping to make the price of next years new model Maserati. In which case one could think of several hundred archaeological projects worth highlighting, and all worth a good sight more than the errant tosh which normally appears on Dragon's Den. (OK small rant over.....). In fact David why doesn't Past Horizons magazine run just such a series.... With peace and consolation hath dismist, And calm of mind all passion spent... Dragons Den for Archaeology... - titmonkey - 17th March 2009 I've got something that I knocked up on a rainy day a few weeks ago, I've got a photo but I'm not sure how to put it on here. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Dragons Den for Archaeology... - garybrun - 17th March 2009 I think archaeologists would be accused of caching in on the heritage just as metal detecting does. Like the moral idea of a TV show... with companies donating to a good cause. Just like BAJR'll Fix It?? P.s. Theres a device to stop archeological students throwing dateable coins on to the spoil heap, its called a metal detector. :face-stir: Website for responsible Metal Detecting http://www.ukdfd.co.uk Recording Our Heritage For Future Generations.
