Education and Outreach - christin - 24th April 2009 Free Access and Learning Workshops for Educators- Book remaining free places now Want to learn more about running outdoor events for children, families and special interest groups? Interested in how archaeology can be incorporated into events? The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology are delighted to announce that we have received funding from English Heritage through the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund to run a free Maritime Archaeology Access and Learning Workshops in May 2009. The workshop introduces the subject of Maritime Archaeology which, for most participants, will be an unfamiliar field. The workshop will run at Fairthorne Manor in Southampton 12-13 May, free of charge, including accommodation and lunch, and will encourage the sharing of ideas and best practice in events and activity planning with focus on maritime archaeology and education and outreach. The residential aspect will encourage networking and will hopefully help to spark some exciting new outreach projects. The workshop is open to everyone and we would suggest the following people might find them useful: Education Officers in archaeological organisations Education Officers in museums Teachers Home educators Young Archaeology Club leaders Marine Wildlife Rangers and Officers Diving professionals looking to organise events Education Officers within the aggregate industry Volunteers and others involved in organising events for children and families.
