As some may be aware, the IfA GeoSIG Archiving Working Group are
conducting research into archiving practices, standards and guidance
within geophysics. A major part of this project is to collect information on current practice but also on how geophysicists view the wider issue of archiving and what they would like to see available in the future.

A questionnaire has been produced and is available as a web form at:

http://www.harewoodgeophysical.com/geosig/archival.php

Numerous responses have been received and more are welcome. We would
particularly welcome contributions by contractors.

Once sufficient have been made a report will be produced summarising the results.

This is one of the largest open consultations into geophysical archiving practice within the heritage sector and submissions from all countries, surveyors, curators, academics and anyone else with an interest are welcome (and are anonymous). Please use the opportunity to register your thoughts, concerns and aspirations regarding this increasingly important aspect of our work.

"Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage."
Niccolo Machiavelli
