Strange Mortaria - Digger - 9th November 2005 Ok, after a bit of help on this one. I have a 90% complete Mortaria with twin stamps MAR. The mortaria is possibly an unknown type for the West-Midlands. Has any one out there encountered this particular stamp? Any help greatly appreciated Strange Mortaria - BAJR Host - 9th November 2005 Sure you know about this already... but here you go http://www.potsherd.uklinux.net/atlas/Class/MORT.php hope it helps. Strange Mortaria - muddyandcold - 11th November 2005 Where did your 90% complete mortaria come from? Is it now part of your collection, or an archieve? Strange Mortaria - Digger - 14th November 2005 From Worcester, Muddy. Not on any archive yet. Currently in the process of quantifying the assemblage. No funding so doing it in my own time, but will take it to publication (grey lit). The Mortaria is only one of a few strange goings on. Strange Mortaria - Tile man - 14th November 2005 can I have some additional information? What is its fabric, what's its colour (red, white, white surface), what are the grits made from and what kind of rim does it have? thanks |
