Driver Wanted. - trowelhead - 21st April 2006 Heres fun folks I note that OAU are advertising for a: Driver/warehouse assistant,(assitant not manager), salary ?14,046 - ?15,182 pa. Below that job OAU is advertising for achaeologists: Salary ?14,046 (including generous holiday and sick leave pay). So go to university study hard for a degree get an MA have huge debts come out and get a job as an archaeologist on a wage with less pay structure than a driver/warehouse assitant. Or perhaps these days you have to have all those qualifications to be a driver, I dunno. At least he or she keeps warm and dry and goes home every evening. Tempted!! The HR department tried to compare it to other jobs within the council and the only comparison they could come up with was van driver. Council van drivers are obviously paid very badly.
