Time Team H&S - trowelhead - 29th August 2006
Despite what we all thought about TT over the weekend. I must say with some concern that the Health and Safety on site looked utterly appaling. I noted on 3 occasions diggers working in unshored and unstepped trenches that were way and above a safe hight. Also no hard hats whilst working below a tetering spoil heap. Many of the presenters and roll on know it alls were also within an unsafe position whilst machines were working. Not very good at all your Highness.
Close enough for a country job!

The spoilheap wasn't teetering anything like as disturbingly as that creepy Victorian champagne jelly. The wood laid on the floor to indicate the line of the wall at the Holyrood site looked like a walkway, and appeared to be overhanging a trench edge by a good margin - very dangerous I thought. There were some impressively straight sections and trench edges on display though.
