Here?s a small thought for Saturday mornings or those quiet moments in the Site Hut, ?Why are hand tapes left handed?...........?

hmmmm
as in... you extend the tape with the left hand while holding in the right... I would have called that right handed.
Debate! :face-stir:

Yep that's right....but if you extend the tape with you right hand while holding it in your left hand then the numbers on the tape are upside down?? if you hold the tape with your right hand and extend the tape with youe left hand the numbers are the right way up but if you want to place a pencil mark on a bit of wood and your right handed then you have to let go of the tape....?
try it? can some one sell me a right handed tape?

Quote: Did you know that 90% of the population are right-handed, yet we're all using left-handed tape measures when measuring and marking? If you're right-handed, think about what you do every time you pick up a tape. You hold your tape measure in your right-hand and you have to use your weaker left hand to make a mark. For non-ambidextrous people (like most of us), writing or marking with the weak hand is difficult and frustratingly inaccurate, especially when trying to work quickly. If you hold the tape measure in your left-hand and mark with your right the blade markings will be up-side-down, causing that dreaded "inch-too-short" error that spoils the workpiece and makes us all feel something between foolish and just plain "ticked off."

Salvation is at hand! We proudly offer the new R1 from M.POWER, the only right-handed tape measure on the market. Once you use this tape measure that you realize just how strange it is that tape measures have always been designed for the left-handed. The blade markings are oriented such that when the tape is pulled with the left hand, the markings are "right-side-up" and you can then quickly, accurately and easily mark with your right hand.
Novelty item? Hardly! It's spelled "I-N-N-O-V-A-T-I-O-N," and like all our products, the R1 is a serious tool that's built to last.
That said... if it was such a problem... why has nobody else in teh world noticed.. :face-huh:
If this was Dragons Den.. I would be asking tough questions! perhaps I may !
