Does anyone have anything they'd like to relate about crypt archaeology from their own personal experience, particularly relating to methodology and safety. Writing a paper and I just want to be sure I've thought of everything.
Sorry to cross-post but Problems with the Past doesn't seem to get as many views as BAJR Baiting.

Crypts are tricky bggggrs... have worked in a few, and it ain't nice... one thing beyond the H&S I want to bring up... (scuse the pun) is the pyscological effect... where i know it still haunts me in a real sense... sometimes I lok at people and can only see their skull or imagine people talking but dead.... not nice!
Diggers put into these situations can be covered up, suited, booted and have all the equipment .. but try telling the mind that when it stares into death every day! [xx(]

Digging at LLandaff Cathedral was a bit nasty, Skellies everywhere!
I couldnt eat spare ribs for months after that job, if it wasnt for my two erstwhile collegues making the job such bloody good fun I suspect I'd have been down the hole myself by now!

Deepdigger's comment about his colleagues is well made. It is a big advantage on these sorts of sites to pick staff who have a healthy sense of humour. It's not disrespectful to be cheerful.
