Distance Learning MA in Archaeology - rvdn - 29th January 2011
If you work in CRM, heritage, museums or archaeology anywhere in the world, have a look at http://tiny.cc/9jesy. At the University of Exeter, we have been running a MA in Archaeology and Heritage Management by Distance Learning for a few years now, with very good feedback from our students; many have completed the MA while continuing in their jobs. We were the first to offer this degree using e-materials only (and also all assignments can be submitted by email), so all you need is access to the internet.

I read the literature but was unsure what the cost might be. There was something about paying per course unit. Roughly how much would that work out at for the qualification.....? Or is it one of those 'if you have to ask the cost, you can't afford it' things?

Indeed, I`ve often wrestled with the cost-benefit analysis of a masters and have always found two barriers- fitting a masters in around my work and the costs involved. First and foremost, the Heritage Management aspect of this is appealing and would certainly tilt the scales favourably in the context of potential for advancement within the industry. That said, on my wages, an MA is just so far out of reach to be a realistic option. Loans are also out of the question as are employers who would be willing to sponsor such a course. Sounds good though! ah.....six grand. Half of my take home pay.
