They are apparently not indigenous in character and many have been found on sites with an early Roman, often military, presence.

There were plenty of Roman goods and knick-knacks knocking around south-east and central southern England, before any of the hardcore skirt-wearers actually nanced onto Albion's soil.

Roman goods I'll grant you...doesn't mean they were traded by Romans though. So does that count as a Roman presence? Hmmm...we're going to have to agree to differ. Perhaps influence would have been a better word.
"Nanced" is a good word though...like that.
I am sure JC and his boys would have appreciated that having just nanced their way across Gaul...:face-approve:

Every time we explain the concept of fascina to people looking at the glass ones Mike makes, I like to point out that the modern concept of women wearing 'fascinators' in their hair descends from the original term. I'm hoping to make one someday that has little fascinum as pendants. I already have a lovely pair in glass as earrings.

The temple area at elms farm produced a goodly few including bone ones.
I was hoping to find the description on the pas but I cant find it listed

Cant say that it would be easy to describe but they are not testicles, their balls, no what I mean is the they should be called spherical lumps of gold. Thing is, if you are going to call them testicles then possibly the hollow is an urethra.

I think that this needs some more work
