No steel toe boots while working with a pickaxe. Smoking in a trench. Metal detector in the back ground kind of leads me to believe that they are not archaeologists at all.

According to the HSE, fine, as long as they judge it to be safe? Good to see a pick being put to good use anyway, usually they just rust at the back of the tool store these days, yoof of today seem to be shy of them - maybe its having to wear the fetching goggles? :face-kiss:

I took this as confirmation of them being archaeologists. Or is smoking and metal detecting now banned on all archaeological sites? :face-stir:

As for scales and north point, for a working (smoking) shot, never! Rolleyes

It's probable that any 'errors' in this photo are only 'errors' when seen from the UK. Perhaps you should compile a list and send it to the Bulgarian archaeologists, sure they'd see the funny side.

Is it point at the funny foreigners week? I have no idea what passes for H&S and best archaeological practice in Bulgaria, but espadrilles, outside of the 1980s, oh dear! Perhaps the IfA (International Fashion Authorities) will get round to sorting out Bulgaria when they have finished here. I could probably find some pictures of bad working practice in those mines where they get that stuff everyone's mobile phone needs, or kids making trainers to pass judgement over, but it would be a bit like shooting fish in a barrel, a barrel filled only with fish that is.
