Yes I think it is point at funny foreigners week. As I type I am surrounded by a group of Latvians with raised index fingers. And you should see the kit they are wearing!! The mockery is extending in a beautiful circle around the entire globe - and long may it last.
And let's not forget what Groucho Marx said about the Swiss 'The Lord Alps them that Alps themselves.'

indeed, as we speak a group of Bulgarian archaeologists are probably having a good chuckle at a photo of a UK archaeologist standing in a farmers field wearing full HSE approved PPE.

I have worked in Bulgaria. Bulgarian archaeology still uses a lot of employed labourers for digging work.....Does the photo show the worst practices I came across in my time there......erm!

Ah yes my old favourite of standing in a field miles from any plant wearing a hard hat. Presumably in case a duck has a sudden fatal heart attack and plummets 10,000 feet to hit me in the bonce !

You won't be laughing when it happens. Especially if it's a pig.

Damn you have taken away spot the error #2 with exactly that scene. (minus duck).. an empty field - an archaeologist - and what looks like the whole ARCO catalogue draped over the shilpit ( small and weedy) wee body.
Right... have to dig out (geddit) Spot the error #3

vulpes Wrote:I took this as confirmation of them being archaeologists. Or is smoking and metal detecting now banned on all archaeological sites? :face-stir: I have used a metal detector myself but it is a "news" article which makes me think they used some sort of file photo. Usually news organizations use whatever is laying around that they think is "archaeological". We have all seen these photos of dinosaurs next to the article about archaeologists.
Makes me highly sceptical of anything in a ?news? photo. Metal detector? Shorts? Smoking? Pickaxe? ?news article?? by themselves not suspicious but together?
That is what I was getting at.
