Duck Gods of Peru! - BAJR - 31st March 2012 Is it me... or is this tending towards the realms of fanciful hope... and needs a good bit of brick therapy? http://munews.missouri.edu/news-releases/2012/0328-rare-animal-shaped-mounds-discovered-in-peru-by-mu-anthropologist/ This is made for My Cartoon Reality... he may be right that we are nothing but an endless source of ... ahem... possibilities! All I can see is wishful thinking and a whole report that does nothing other than give some ifs, maybes and rather dubious assumptions. like a rock that looks a bit like a head and a duck figure .. ffs... a duck that is 4000 years old mind but still retained it's shape ? has this been tested... has it been dug? has it been subjected to anything other than looking at them? If this is the case... great... but come on/.... the mighty duck god of peru? and the puma... no matter how hard I squinted I could not see it all I got was a sausage...!. Try this one... "The caiman/puma monster-shaped mound is one of two figures from the 4,000-year-old pre-ceramic site of El Para?so, in the Chilca Valley. The other, a condor, is partly visible in the upper left. The researchers found the condor's charcoal eye lined up with the Milky Way when viewed from a nearby temple, while the "monster mound" aligned with the June summer solstice when viewed from the same temple. (The arrow shows the mound's alignment with the Milky Way.)" Anyway... here it is in antiquity http://www.antiquity.ac.uk/projgall/benfer329/ Duck Gods of Peru! - CARTOON REALITY - 31st March 2012 Great ducks of muck! Duck Gods of Peru! - Bodger51 - 31st March 2012 Portable Rock art it aint. how much do you reackon they weigh? Duck Gods of Peru! - Bodger51 - 31st March 2012 I think if we are to take the Nazca lines seriously, then it might have a good chance for being considered To be honest, it reminds me of the the old pheno ruck dont forget the pitch fork Doh, Ray, Me, Far, So, La, Teh, Doh Duck Gods of Peru! - serpentine - 1st April 2012 I'm looking and looking at the condor and all I'm seeing is a cow's head. Come to think of it there's a distinct whiff of bull about all the images! Though saying that, there's a rock formation in Snowdonia I've always thought looks a bit like a seal. :face-thinks: Of course! It must be proof of a prehistoric global rock-animal worshipping super-civilisation! And the orca - a clue surely to Atlantian origins! } ![]() (Have I scored any points yet?!) Duck Gods of Peru! - Dinosaur - 1st April 2012 At least we got all the 'megalithic astronomy' c**p out of our systems over here back in the 70s and 80s.... } ![]() Duck Gods of Peru! - CARTOON REALITY - 1st April 2012 Taking all the megalith c**p out of your system is a bad idea, they're full of dietary fibre. Duck Gods of Peru! - pdurdin - 1st April 2012 BAJR Wrote:...a duck that is 4000 years old mind but still retained it's shape ?Not so implausible if it's made of not-so-fertile soil (like the hilly areas visible outside the irrigated fields/farms in the photos) given the weather in that part of South America. It's one of the driest areas on the planet, so if people avoided farming it then it could easily retain its shape for hundreds or thousands of years. Interpretation of shape and purpose is another question... I thought one of them was a giant ladle when I squinted. Must be something to do with the Big Dipper!
